Compressive Sensing for Remote Flood Monitoring

چکیده
Although wireless sensor networks are considered as one of the prominent solutions for flood monitoring, energy constraint nature sensors is still a technical challenge. In this letter, we tackle problem by proposing novel energy-efficient remote monitoring system, enabled compressive sensing. The proposed approach compressively captures water level data using i) random block-based sampler, and ii) gradient-based sensing approach, at very low rate, exploiting variability over time. Through extensive experiments on real water-level dataset, show that number packet transmissions well size packets significantly reduced. results also demonstrate significant reduction in transmission. Moreover, reconstruction from compressed samples high quality with negligible degradation, compared to classic compression techniques, even rates.

متن کاملRemote Sensing Methods by Compressive Sensing
Compressive Sensing is a recently developed technique that exploits the sparsity of naturally occurring signals and images to solve inverse problems when the number of samples is less than the size of the original signal. We apply this technique to solve underdetermined inverse problems that commonly occur in remote sensing, including superresolution, image fusion and deconvolution. We use l 1-...
متن کاملVisual Sensing for Urban Flood Monitoring
With the increasing climatic extremes, the frequency and severity of urban flood events have intensified worldwide. In this study, image-based automated monitoring of flood formation and analyses of water level fluctuation were proposed as value-added intelligent sensing applications to turn a passive monitoring camera into a visual sensor. Combined with the proposed visual sensing method, trad...
متن کاملRemote sensing technology for mapping and monitoring vegetation cover (Case study: Semirom-Isfahan, Iran)
To determine the suitable indices for vegetation cover and production assessment based on the remote sensing data, simultaneous digital data with field data belonging to the spring rangeland of the Semirom-Isfahan province were analyzed. During two years of monitoring the annual, grass, forb, and shrub vegetation cover and the total production data from 86 were collected. The Global Positioning...
